Real Estate News - Signs of the times - sacbee.com
When seven homes on one street are up for sale, you get the idea a lot of area sellers want to collect on their investment.
On a half-mile stretch of Aubergine Way near Mather Field, two investors are selling their rental houses, and another is selling to move to Santa Cruz. Dianne Slutsky, too, is selling a house she bought years ago with a San Ramon couple.
"It was bought mostly with the intention of long-term appreciation, which we've gotten," said Slutsky, a real estate agent.
So on the market it's gone, making a total of seven single-story houses with big back yards for sale on a half-mile stretch of Aubergine Way. On another street nearby in this neighborhood called "Independence at Mather" are three more homes for sale. After 50 days Slutsky's three-bedroom house awaits the right offer in a market where buyers have gained power to deal amid one of the largest inventories of existing homes for sale in the four-county Sacramento region in a decade.

Lowell Sun Online - Tenants Wanted
Despite a booming housing market for several years, area landlords are now finding themselves in a bind -- a shrinking tenant pool has made them unable to raise rents, even as they are hit with steadily rising ownership costs.
From the perspective of a landlord, "the rental market in Lowell is terrible. I would say the biggest problem is there just seems to be no tenants out there. You can advertise, but you don't get very many calls," said Dick Macdonald, president of the Greater Lowell Landlords Association.
Macdonald said some landlords have reported having to lower their advertised rents by as much as $100 a month to attract tenants.

Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)

It's taking longer to sell a house
Last spring, Michael Segal put his Teaneck home on the market for $600,000 -- an asking price selected with the help of his Realtor.
Buyers showed interest, but Segal said he decided it wasn't time to sell. This spring, the four-bedroom colonial is up for sale again. The asking price: $529,000 ($19,000 above his current's agent's recommendation).
What changed? North Jersey's real estate boom, it appears, has gone flat
Interest rates for 30-year mortgages have climbed to their highest levels in nearly four years. Energy prices are soaring. And buyers, for the first time in years, have the luxury of taking their time and being picky because they're far outnumbered by sellers like Segal.
"They come. They see. They love. They like," said Segal, 70, who put his house back on the market about two months ago. "But they don't buy."

Mortgage rates barely drop
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7148582/
WASHINGTON - Rates on 30-year mortgages edged down this week, the first decline after six straight increases, according to a nationwide survey.
Mortgage giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.58 percent, down from 6.59 percent last week, which had been the highest level in nearly four years.
