Много лет пользовался specialteas, но всему хорошему приходит конец. Компания закрывается с 1 февраля. Какие еще есть хорошие сайты с большим выбором листового чая и разумными ценами?

Для подтверждения достаточно зайти на их сайт, чтобы обнаружить вывеску "75% of everything" и практически полное отсутсвие ассортимента.

Кстати, ходили слухи, что Teavana являлись инвестором Special Teas. На сайте Teavana есть несколько чаев со знакомыми названиями, но те чаи, что я когда-то покупала у них в магазине в моле, оставляли желать лучшего.

Еще есть такой сайт http://www.silkroadteas.com/servlet/StoreFront, якобы они были одним из поставщиков Special Teas. Цены у них, правда, какие-то нехилые.

Так, самый дешевый Russian caravan что я нашла, стоит на треть дороже, чем покупала у specialteas. Всерьез задумываюсь о воспроизведении в домашних условиях, инструкция вроде простая. К тому же, в закромах обнаружился Кимун и Сучонг, осталось только хороший Улонг купить.

How to Make Russian Caravan Tea

Russian Caravan is a famous blend of tea whose origins go back to the days when tea exporters took the arduous journey across Siberia to deliver China's goods to European markets. Distinctively rich and smoky in flavor, drinking this tea conjures up images of snow-blanketed log cabins and freezing taboggan treks, making it the perfect choice for a wintery day or even for bringing back memories in the summertime. Although it can sometimes be found in tea shops pre-blended, this tea is fairly simple to make by yourself once you have all three ingredients. By doing it yourself you can easily experiment with different ingredients and adjust the proportions to your taste, impressing your friends with all your tea wisdom once you have found the perfect balance.

Things You'll Need:
Equipment for brewing loose leaf tea (a tea kettle, a tea pot, and a mesh infuser ball or basket infuser designed for loose leaf tea)
One black tea, one oolong tea, and Lapsang Souchong

First you will need to select the teas you are going to put in the blend. Go to a tea shop or supermarket that sells loose leaf tea and get the following:

1. A basic loose leaf black tea. The traditionally used black tea for Russian Caravan is a Chinese tea called Qimen (also spelled "Keemun"), but any black tea that is not too strong or unusual will do. Some other possible options include English Breakfast, Assam, or Ceylon (DO NOT use Earl Grey).

2. A loose leaf oolong tea. Oolong tea is halfway between green tea and black tea. It comes in many different varieties, so pick any one you like. The only one to avoid when making Russian Caravan is a variety called "Ti Guan Yin", which is very different from other oolong teas.

3. Loose leaf Lapsang Souchong tea. This is the crucial ingredient in Russian Caravan, since Lapsang Souchong is what imparts the distinctive smoky flavor to the recipe. It is basically black tea which is smoked over a wood fire. You probably won't find it next to Lipton in the supermarket, but it is still fairly common and most stores that sell several different varieties of loose leaf tea will have it.

Put the desired amount of water in your tea kettle and bring the water to a full boil.

Prepare the blend by putting enough tea leaves in your infuser basket or ball for your pot/cup of tea. I find that one teaspoon of tea leaves for every 10 oz. of water is about right. The proportions should be approximately as follows: 1 part lapsang souchong, 1 part black tea, 2 parts oolong tea. After you have done this, gently shake the ball or basket to distribute the different tea leaves more evenly. You can do all this while you are waiting for the water to boil.

As soon as the water has reached boiling point (or the kettle whistles), take the kettle off the stove and pour the water into your tea pot with the tea leaves in the basket or ball infuser. Let it steep for about 3-5 minutes, depending on your taste, and then remove the tea leaves before serving. Enjoy!

Это не просто хороший, а один из самых лучших. У них нет ни одного чая, который бы Хвостке не понравился(so far). Цены, к сожалению, в 2-2.5 раза выше, чем specialteas...

Ну, у меня не сложилось ощущения что они такие крутые; я просто жил недалеко от их магазинчика и захаживал туда. Выбор чаёв хороших, но они мне все казались, как бы сказать, пересушеными... как будто они долго лежали где-то на складе. Потом я в молле стал покупать чаи кажется teavanna и они были явно свежее.
Но у teagschwender мне очень нравился East Frisian Broken Blend, просто чёрный чай с дивным запахом именно просто чая, без всяких ароматизаторов.
И еще покупаю, грешным делом, с Амазона, LyChee black, ImperialBlack.
Ну и традиционно держу запас Jasmin Dragon Pearl, он везде хорош, но дорогой.
