Motorola V600 with AT&T activation:
the good
quad-band -- America, Europe, Russia -- wherever you go, take your phone with you
voice dialing -- getting used to this feature is really a snap, just try ;
just amazing screen, no fading colors even in direct sunlight;
multiple alarms, nice calendar, calculator, GRPS, MMS, SMS, voice memos, Java apps, wallpapers, screensavers blah blah blah, well, lotsa functions;
REALLY loud ringer, ability to assign a ringtone to a particular # in the phonebook or to a group of contacts; mp3 ringtones (my fav one is "Time forward" by Sviridov -- the one that used to be an opening for the Vremya program) which is cool to have and if they are not loud enough for your taste -- soundforge will help ya;
bluetooth -- kinda cool feature, don't need to hold the phone, just get a nice BT headset, though this feature is very battery-life unfriendly
SPEAKERPHONE -- really nice to have, keeps your hands free whenever you need 'em
the bad
no address field in the phone book, only phone # and email;
phonebook functioning could be weird for someone who hasn't used any Moto before, but it's just a matter of getting used to it;
people complain about not having enough planning options for repeating events in the calendar, like a fortnight or "every two months" which supposedely do exist in lets say SE z600;
shorter than I expected it to be but still ok -- I am getting it fully discharged on the third-fourth day having an hour-hour and a half of talking time daily;
cannot play mp3 files, it has only 5 megs or something of memory onboard so no luck for those who would like to use a phone as a replacement for an mp3 player;
cannot use memory cards;
and the damn irritating ugly
no notebook whatsoever
cannot vibe and ring simultaneously, it just vibes for a lilwhile, then starts ringing. I had a Nokia 7210 before which vibed and rang all at once.
many bugs that other people report and I don't have
![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
just keep my fingers crossed.
search in the phonebook can only be done by the first letter
Well, AT&T has it locked and they do not provide unlocking codes, which could be bought online for about $15-20 -- works like a charm.
With all corp discounts it was about $150, now Amazon has it for 99 with Cingular activation. Reception is very good here in Houston, as it was with T-Mobile though and I wouldn't be able to tell any difference between T-Mobile and ATT. Constantly works in 1900 band as it's the only band available in Houston metro area.
That's all folks!
