Mikhail is a former Russian businessman and political prisoner of Vladimir Putin’s regime. Mikhail is the founder of Open Russia, a non-governmental organization promoting a strong civil society.
On 9 March 2014, Khodorkovsky spoke at Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, where he accused the Russian government of complicity in the killing of protesters.
Khodorkovsky also spoke before the Ukraine Polytechnic Institute, where he stated his vision for future political activity: "I am an unconditional supporter of building a law-based democratic nation-state with a unitary civil nation in Russia, and unconditionally support the analogous aspirations of the Ukrainian people.
On January 30, 2015 Mikhail called for immediate release of political prisoner Nadezhda Savchenko: "In order not to bring the situation in the legal deadlock with an extremely bloody output, Nadiya Savchenko should be released immediately and the organizers of such a dumb thing – punished for harming Russia,” Khodorkovsky wrote.
This seminar is organized by Ilya Ponomarev, Larry Diamond, Michael McFaul.
