I've seen it several times on Craigslist, in apartments for rent - _junior_ unit. What does this "junior" thing mean?

"junior" = "smaller than regular" (about apartments).
E.g. regular 1 br - 650 sq.ft.; junior 1 br - 480 sq.ft.
