Tatka, with all due respect, you don't know what you're talking about. Worcester has a lot of quite good areas, and even some OK schools. There are several places to the east of Marlboro that have schools much better than those in Marlboro and decent publica - including Northboro, Shrewsbury and Boylston. Westboro too, though it isn't exactly to the east. Some of these schools are among the top in the state and you don't have to pay 500K to live there.
Westborough and Northboro are only towns from this list with good schools...
Worcester is not a place to live with children... There may be some OK areas, but idefinitely not good. By the way my brother-in-law worked there for almost 10 years, and he says all more or less educated people in his company live outside of Worcester... ( Grafton is one of the better towns)
What I am saying is... there are many good and great towns along route 495, there is no point to live in W. or Marlboro.
I would look into Ashland , Hopkinton or Holliston for example. Ashland is a growing community of professionals with very good school system, many younger russian families moved there, so kids will have alot of russian kids to play with. You still can find decent townhouse for about $300 .. (not new and huge, but good one)
We live in Franklin, which is also near 495 (30-40 mins to Marlboro) my son actually played hockey there. I wouldn't call schools great, although they are very good and community is very family friendly , many tyhings to do for the kids.
Acton has great school system, and you don't have to pay thru thye roof to live there either.. (although I can't estimate how far it's from Marlborogh (closer?)
