SAO PAULO, Brazil (Reuters) - An American Airlines pilot was arrested at Sao Paulo International Airport on Wednesday after making an obscene gesture while being photographed by Brazilian (news - web sites) immigration officers, police said.

The pilot, identified as Dale Robin Hirsch, raised his middle finger at police to protest new Brazilian security measures that require U.S. citizens to be fingerprinted and photographed upon entering the South American country.

Сегодня наткнулся на статью в WSJ: "Countries Pile Fees, Red Tape on U.S. Tourist" by Eleena de Lisser.

...Russia not only raised fees, but now also requires all American men ages 16 to 45 to fill out a form detailing, among other things, whether they were ever in the armed services...

...Russia's new paperwork, "Form 95", not only grills American males about their military service, it also asks for details about "specialized skills or training, including firearms, explosives, nuclear, biological or chemical experience." In addition, it wants to know the names of two of your previous bosses...

Любопытно то, что в статье нигде не указано, что в точности такие же требования существуют для российских туристов, желающих посетить США. Причем, вопрос о "specialized skills and training, including..." слово в слово совпадает с настоящим оригиналом, формой DS-157, которую приходится заполнять российским мужчинам.

Хотя, конечно, после Гарри Каспарова, я в WSJ уже ничему не удивляюсь.

Может, вы статью не с начала читали?

Я уже не говорю, что обвинительный тон в этой статье отсутствует полностью.
Впрочем, это весьма характерно для WSJ - полное отсутствие каких-либо эмоций в публикациях.

Я сомневаюсь, что у вас есть on-line подписка на WSJ, поэтому даже не буду просить привести ссылку, где говориться, что Гарри Каспаров является редактором WSJ.

Каковая должность и является тем, чем я написал.
То есть время от времени ему дают пописывать на малозначащие темы в знак признания его заслуг в шахматах - чемпион мира, как никак.

Действительно редакторы там первые три по списку плюс Editorial Board.

Совершенно нет.
Гарри Каспарова я прочитал в WSJ один раз, в разделе Letters to the Editor.
Как же я могу согласиться с тем, что это не "письмо в редакцию"? :pain1:
