Insurance Payment

I was in unpaid leave from one company (Company) from August, 2002. Dental insurance
was still active. My wife went to dentist during
this time (we checked by phone, the insurance was active). The
insurance paid their portion to Dentist office. 10 month
letter the Company send a letter of cancellation to Insurance company and Insurance company
canceled my insurance starting from August, 2002 (10 month back).
Then Insurance company sent a letter to Dental office with request to refund
all money they paid to Dental Office. Dental Office called me and
told that they would send me the bill for whole amount and I will be responsible for this.

I did not receive any letter of cancellation from the Company. I was thinking and I checked that my insuranse was active.

Questions: Was it my mistake or mistake of the Company? Is is legal to put cancelation date, which is 10 month back?

Could you please give me some advises what should I do in my situation?

А все эти 10 месяцов с вас деньги брали за зубную страховку?

I don't know, maybe the Company pays, because it was my benefit.

Это надо с вашим работодателем разбираться. Довольно часто при уходе на "unpaid leave" теряются бенефиты, если только не соглашаетесь сами за них платить - странно, что вам об этом не сообщили. Cкорее всего dental insurance здесь особо ни при чем - им чего сказали, то они и сделали. Если cancellation не по их инициативе, то хоть 10 месяцев назад отменят.

Почитайте свой контракт, узнайте, вычитали ли с вас за dental insurance (иногда вычитают одну сумму сразу за dental и health). А сейчас вы работаете или нет? И вообще спрашивали у работодателя, что за дела?
