One of those who benefited was Eleanor Lacey, a Silicon Valley lawyer, who said she HAD initially dismissed a job offer from a cybersecurity company because the position involved frequent travel, nearly all of it overseas. “I was very secure and happy in my current job, and so I didn’t need the job,” she said.
But other benefits were appealing, like a schedule that would let her be home with her family in the evenings. So Ms. Lacey employed a tactic human resources and executive compensation experts say they see more frequently today.
According to the Society for Human Resource Management, 17 percent of Amercian companies in 2016 offered first-class or business-class flights for employees traveling internationally, up four percentage points from five years earlier. The number offering the same for domestic travel grew by two percentage points over that same period.
“I do think companies are aware that the best workers are more in the driver’s seat,” said John Challenger, chief executive of Challenger, Gray & Christmas, an executive outplacement firm. “Companies know that if they lose someone they value, it’s harder to go out and replace skilled workers in a low-unemployment environment.”

Вы можете накопать любого негатива. Я езжу на метро туда и обратно каждый день с 1998. А также в автобусе. И жена у меня была беременная, и знакомые. Как правило, всегда уступают. Я не сомневаюсь что кому-то не уступили, и может когда-то, кто-то не уступает, но это не типично. Продолжате выискивать статьи, которые оправдывают ваше очень негативное отношение к этой очень неплохой, на мой взгляд, стране, и прекрасному городу.

Кстати, Портланд очень прогрессивный, европейского типа, город. Там очень развит общественный транспорт, включая трамваи, повсюду велосипедные дорожки, многие живут в самом городе, а не в пригородах, много пешеходных улиц, что не очень характерно для США. Своего рода модель для городского развития многих других городов страны.
