Since its start in February 2005 as the free shipping program, Prime has come a long way becoming one of earth’s most admired membership programs. In the last decade the program has expanded the free shipping benefits to millions of items, added multiple digital benefits and expanded in nine new countries beyond US.
Prime Bangalore Engineering Team has been one of the hubs for technical innovations for Prime Member Acquisitions. This highly talented team has invented device based membership acquisition channels, conceptualized & developed Membership ASINization Platform which enables millions of Client customers to buy Prime membership like any other retail physical products through Client’s retail website, and built features which have been biggest membership growth drivers for Prime. To further foster the Prime Membership growth Prime Bangalore Engineering Team is looking forward to solve three complex technical challenges. The first challenge is to build a location & device agnostic platform for creating reusable context sensitive membership sign up pipelines. This digital membership signup platform will have self-service workflows which would enable generation of Prime membership signup pipeline variations. The solution would be extended to allow on-boarding of other digital memberships programs as well. Second challenge is to build a real time data platform for machine learning, acquisition and retention opportunities. In data agnostic way this platform will offer capabilities for ingesting, storing, transforming and publishing membership activity related information. The third challenge is to evolve ASINization platform to bridge the gap further between membership, digital & physical check out experiences, and effortless & easy on-boarding of new membership program clients.
We are looking for a technical expert like you who could take lead in solving these challenges and make an indelible impact by his innovation. As Senior SDE, you will develop a deep understanding of our business, work closely with local and global teams, and own the architecture & end-to-end delivery of software components. You will define & build best-in-class platforms which would be used by millions of Client customers worldwide and dozens of other memberships programs at Client. Your scalable, low latency, fault tolerant and extensible platforms would fuel the next wave of Prime Membership growth.
As a Senior Software Engineer you will provide technical leadership at Client. You will help establish technical standards and drive Client’s overall technical architecture, engineering practices, and methodologies. Your pragmatic vision will translate business needs into workable technology solutions. With your deep and broad technical expertise you will produce both detailed technical work and high-level architectural designs.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or 10+ years of relevant work experience
• Experience in building large scalable distributed, asynchronous and stateless architectures
• Strong skills in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design and complexity analysis
• Proficiency in C++ and/or Java
• Proficiency in Big Data technologies (Hadoop and related technologies)
• Expertise in Perl, JS, PHP, Pig and/or Ruby
• Experience with Agile Management (SCRUM, RUP, XP) and OO Modeling
Preferred Qualifications:
• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience building highly scalable, high availability services
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills with great attention to detail
• Ability to write and understand functional/technical specifications, mentor junior developers and good communication skills
• Innovation and initiative to improve coding standards, test coverage, quality and automation. Contribute intellectual property through patent generation.
