I’ve read that it’s not very good to cook in a microwave but still use it because of the convenience.
I cook "manka" in a microwave all the time - very simple and quickly. First cook just milk for 5 minutes (I have a powerful microwave so you'll need to find the right time for yours) - 1 cup of milk per one serving. Then I add an American manka "Farina" - 2,5 - 3 table spoons per one cup of milk, stir it, and cook for two more minutes but set the power to just 50%, then take it out and stir more, and you'll see how many more times you'll need to repeat it. With my microwave it's usually 2 or 3 - depends on how many servings I cook. The key here is to use the 50% option.
I also cook grechka in a microwave but I don't cook it on milk - just on water. First I wash grechka and then add 2 cups of water per one cup of grechka, some salt and cook it for 5 minutes, then set the power to 50% and cook it for 10 more minutes, then I leave it in a microwave and in approximately 20 minutes it's ready.
