Ann Arbor, MI

Post by DanielMa »

Daniel, did I give you this link before? You are coming here for UM, right? What department? Alone or with family? Probably 99% of students live in the "Downtown/Campus" area, or in the WillowTree apartments (Northeast area on your map), you don't need a car if you live there. But you'll probably try to get a car very soon: Michigan is not really a "public transport" state.

Yes, I saw that link. The problem with on-campus housing, majority of downtown housing , and WillowTree is that they don't allow dogs or only alow 1 dog. I have 2 dogs so I think I will be limited to living away from campus. I have a car so I will be able to get around. However, I was told that there was no parking available next to U of M so I would prefer to take a bus there.

I will be attending law school. My wife is moving with me.

I see. Sorry, can't help much, the only thing I can say is that commuter students buy "orange" parking permits for $60/year for the south orange lot. A free university bus runs every 10 minutes from there, and has a stop right across from the law school, so that should not be a problem.
