Лесной клещ( forest tick).

У Пушкина год назад совершенно случайно на шее заметила: чет-то такое темненькое, на бородавочку похожее.

Раздвинула шерсть - клещ. До этого я их никогда не видела (городской житель я

). Взяла салфетку клинекс и отодрала его. Осталась дырочка на шее собаки, но все зажило само собой. Я ее обработала привезенным из России "мирамистином".

С тех пор пользуемся каплями раз в месяц: К-9 Advantix.

Еще как болеют! В наших местах даже привики от Lyme desease делают. Нашему тоже сделали аж 2 штуки с интервалом в месяц.

Proper Removal of a Tick

The best way to remove a tick is with fine-pointed tweezers. Grab as closely to the skin as possible and pull straight back, using steady but gentle force. In addition:

Do not use your fingers to remove the tick.

Do not twist the tick, which can cause breakage, leaving part of its body in your skin.

Do not crush, prick, or burn the tick, which may cause it to salivate or regurgitate infected fluids.

Do not try to smother the tick with products such as petroleum jelly or mineral oil. Ticks can store enough oxygen to complete feeding.

Proper Disposal of a Tick

Place the tick in a sealed container or small plastic bag and deposit in the trash. James Herrington, MPH, Public Health Education Specialist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, says that the humidity ticks need to survive is lacking inside a plastic bag. Do not flush ticks down the toilet because they can easily survive in the water.

Ticks, as with fleas, are irritating little parasites that prey on our dogs. They live their life trying to find a warm-blooded creature so that they can feed.

When ticks are in need of a blood meal, they seek out prey by heat sensors. When a warm object passes by them, they attach to this object by clinging to the clothing or fur. They also can fall from trees onto our pets.

After the prey has been chosen, the tick migrates to an area that has little hair or does not present difficulty in feeding (the ears and lips, and skin around them are common places).

The tick inserts its pincher-like mouthparts into the skin and begins feeding. These mouthparts are locked in place and will only dislodge when the tick has completed the meal. Once the meal is complete, the adult female will fall from the prey and seek shelter. Eggs are born and the adult female dies.

The best and safest dog tick removal is to use tweezers and pull the tick off. Do not touch the tick since diseases can be transmitted. Consider wearing gloves when removing a tick.

Dog tick removal should never be done using a hot match or needle. The heat causes the tick to literally vomit into the wound practically insuring contamination.

Take your set of tweezers and swab them with alcohol or at the very least sterilize them over a flame. You will also want to swab the bite area with alcohol, but don’t smother the tick.

After the tweezers cool down, grab the tick more from the side than the top, and as close to the head as possible. Try to get the tweezers between the skin and the tick's jaws, and gently pull the tick straight out of the skin.

DO NOT grasp the tick by the body.

The main thing here is patience. A steady pull over a few minutes time, will usually tire out the tick enough to release its grip. Be gentle, yet firm. You don’t want to yank the tick’s body from its head.

Frequently, pieces of skin may come off with the tick.

Just as soon as you remove the tick, dispose of it in the toilet and flush it immediately. Never throw it into the trash. You can also put ticks in a jar of alcohol to kill them.

If the head of the tick remains in the skin, try to grab it and remove as much as possible. If you are unable to remove the entire head, don’t fret. This is not life threatening. Your pet’s immune system will help to dislodge the rest.

You will want to apply a topical antiseptic or antibiotic ointment to avoid inflammation. Monitor the bite for three to 30 days. Usually no additional therapy is needed, but if you are concerned, contact your family veterinarian.

У моих (стучу по дереву) клесчей никогда не было, но я Адвантикс капаю раз в месяц. Хотя для клесчей надо 2 раза в мес.

Про масло и другие методы, как тут уже написали - нельзя этого делать, только выдергивать :umnik1:

Когда клещ сам вылазит, он слюну под кожу "вплевывает" и таким образом очень повышается вероятность передачи болезней.
Я их зачастую тоже голыми руками выдергиваю, или плоскогубцами. Брезгливость к ним частично пропала после того как я обнаружила клеща на себе

В первый раз вообще я в шоке была :horror:

Второй раз уже поспокойней к этому отнеслась :mrgreen:

В этих двух случаях они ко мне уже присосались, правда "разбухнуть" не успели :mrgreen:

Еще много раз снимала их с тела когда они еще место себе подыскивали :roll:

Так что мы здесь к ним привычные

А до Америки я с ними вообще не сталкивалась никогда :pain1:

А американские клещи энцефалит тоже переносят?
С другой стороны, против энцефалита хоть прививку можно поставить, а против боррелиоза бороться не так-то просто

Насчет того, кто что придумал, не знаю. Мне все равно. Обычным гвоздодером клеща не вытащищь, а этим маленьким пластмассовым, на 2 секунды, и никакой головной боли. Цена настолько незначительная, а удобство настолько очевидно, что я не пожалела 4 евро и купила. Пользуюсь уже 5 лет и все как новый.
