Subject: Urinary trouble and Apple Cider Vinegar
I raise Boer goats and they are often plagued with urinary calculi. I lost two very nice young billies to it earlier this year. We feed top quality food, lots of good sudan hay, minerals, salt blocks, etc. and still these guys develop them. The vets don't really have a lot to offer as not many do a lot with goats. Anyway, long story short, I was relating my tale of woes with a fellow goat person and he let me in on a little secret. Apple cider vinegar in the water. He gave me the dosage and I decided to try it even though it sounded kind of wacky. Let me tell you it works! And after a loss of about $1000 this spring and the purchase of another $800 buck I was willing to try just about anything.
Well, during all of this, my darling Wink was developing the most horrific urinary problem known to the history of the opossum (or so was my opinion of it). She is aces about using her potty box so I didn't see the problem and the odor control of her litter masked the stench. That was until one night she peed on the floor. OMG!!!!!!!! It smelled so foul that it woke me from a sound sleep! It was thick like syrup and the color of canned pumpkin. And when I went to clean it off the light colored tile floor it glittered like powered glass. Holy cow! How long had she had this!? She had to be in terrible discomfort. BUT as luck would have it, I had a freshly opened bottled of Amoxi on hand and started her on it then and there. I also remembered the vinegar trick I use on the goats. I figured the doasge for the water bottle and added it in. IMMEDIATELY she took to it and emptied the bottle with just a few hours. The bottle is 15 ozs. She and Stella share it. I added .5 oz of APPLE cider vinegar to the bottle.
Within the span of about 24 hours, the color of her urine was normal. The smell was almost completely gone and the crystals had all but disappeared! I finished out her abs and then I got stupid. I figured, oh well, she has recovered and doesn' need the vinegar anymore. WRONG! Almost right away she began to regress. SO, back to the vinegar and abs for round two.
I have been using the vinegar now for almost 4 months and nary a sign of problems. The girls love it!!!! I have to refill the bottle daily as they will empty it each night. Their urine is normal and believe it or not, almost odorless. It still smells like urine if you put your nose to it but that is normal. I go thru a heck of a lot of cat litter but who cares. I am telling you, try it! It works and it is a heck of a lot less costly than vet trips, abs, ua's and the like. But, it must be Apple Cider vinegar, NOT white vinegar. That is a different thing all thogether.

Thanks for that post. I've read that ash content in pet food is a major contributor to urinary stones, so I've had a healthy fear of ash. It makes sense that adding an acid might balance the animal's PH.
Может вам это попробовать? Я собираюсь завтра купить яблочный уксус для своей девицы.
