I'm not a Republican or a Democrat. Like Michael Moore, I am an Independent (both in voting and thinking). I just got back from the 1st local showing of "F° 9/11" and I found it to be the most stunning film I have ever seen... "STUNNING" in EVERY sense of the word.
Even if HALF of what is presented in the film is false (which I seriously doubt since so much of it comes directly from the horses a**... err... mouth), even after the facts have been checked and triple-checked, then any traitors involved truly aren't the filmmakers, but the subjects of the film.
My father was a Naval officer during the start of the Cold War. I myself served proudly in the Navy aboard missile submarines during the end of the Cold War. My youngest brother was an Army officer during the first Gulf War, and my middle brother is presently flying jets for the Air Force in the Afghan/Iraqi. All of us became involved to protect and defend our country's ideals... one of the most important ideals being the RIGHT TO SPEAK OUR MIND, especially when others disagree. I may disagree with what you have to say, but I'll defend your right to say it AND BE HEARD to my dying day.
Until the PATRIOT act, I never felt much concern in voicing an opinion; but I truly cannot say that now (which is why I'm not using my real name). Michael Moore is unquestionably a gadfly, but he's no traitor. Moore is a documentarian (an incredibly talented one at that) that truly loves our country, hates what has happened to it, and is a true patriot. His previous films reflect that, and he has only gotten better.
I salute Michael Moore for having the guts to make this film in a day when so many people are willing to turn a blind eye to the truth in favor of hearing what they have already decided to be true.
The right-wing can nitpick the details all they want, perhaps Moore didn't include things that they would have included; but that is his right, and what he has included is uncontestable. I admire those who could see this film and then differ with the statements made (although it bewilders me how they could), but I have nothing but contempt for those that seek to discredit, ban, block, or otherwise prevent others from seeing it when they don't have the balls to watch it themselves. Blinding yourself to the truth doesn't change the truth, it only makes you blind.
Few films deserve a 20 minute standing ovation at anytime - this movie deserved it, and then some. It is just sad that people are dying and being mutilated over such half-truths, blatant falsehoods and hidden agendas. Closing with a lengthy & terrifyingly appropriate quote from Orwell's "1984", as well as a horrifically appropriate song by Neil Young (written about the 1st President Bush) truly says it all - I'll never be able to hear that song the same way again.
If this film does not win the Best Picture; blame Haliburton. It is a patriotic masterpiece, and shame on all of us for letting it happen

Polarizing Movie
This movie is a must see. Before you pass judgment based on the average user rating (around 6), notice that most raters give it either a 10 or a 1. If you are ultra conservative and can't disassociate the entertaining value of a movie from your politics, you might be better off going to see something else (or watch Fox News for that matter)
For me, the movie is outrageously funny and, if looked at objectively, a very subjective historical artifact, but a bona fide historical artifact nevertheless. If you consider yourself an intelligent, discerning moviegoer, give a chance to this movie and form your own unbiased opinion. I gave it a chance and I am happy to say that the movie was worth every dollar I paid in admission.

Fahrenheit 9/11
It was sold out at 10:45. We got in line for 00:05 showing at 23:30, and there were already 50 people there. Movie theater was packed. If the showing was not sold out, it came pretty close.
Remember, we're talking about a 00:05 showing of a DOCUMENTARY.
There was an ARMY commercial prior to the movie showing. Not a good idea. If you can't guess why, go watch the movie.
The movie was _very_ entertaining. Half of it consisted of opinions, conjectures, hints, emotions. Another half - facts. I can't think of anything that I did not know either from reading lots of political news, or from Moore's book (well, ok. minor details like the name of the person, which was crossed out when Bush's military record was released). For people less versed in current events (and by no means do I imply to know a lot - I am more like an advanced user, not a total n00b ) this could have been pretty eye opening, but only if they are going in with an open mind. Even if they don't believe everything Moore tells them (and, I guess, why should they?) the movie should make them ask a lot of questions, plant some doubts, encourage debate. Important.
I guess, there were two things I _really_ did not like: too much footage of parents of one of the slain soldiers. Emotions. I understand why Moore did it, but I think that footage should have been left out. Also, the footage of those contractors, whose charred bodies were beaten, dragged behind a car, and hung from the bridge. I think one should appeal to reason, not to emotions, as emotions will die down and people will ask themselves what else was there. Also, I think the dead (as well as the grieving) deserve more respect, shown by letting them grieve. In private.
Michael Moore is good. Real good. Regardless of whether you agree with his views or not.
ps. Yeah, the scene where Moore asks senators to sign their children up for military service, to be sent to Iraq. Dumb.
pps. Another thing I did not know and found out from the movie had to do with the law, stating that election results may be challenged only when at least one of the senators voices a concern. Apparently, there were several people, as I understand members of the house of representatives (but I could be wrong on this one), voicing their concern about Florida results, and the fact that a lot of people have not been given a fair chance to vote (no basis is given there, so one is left to wonder whether it had to do with those lists of ineligible people, or the ballot/chad thing). Not a single senator complained. Unfortunately, we were not told what would have happenned, had the senators gotten with the program. I understood this to have taken place after the supreme court decision. I need to go read about this some more, as I am afraid I am misstating too many things in this paragraph. It's 03:36. Mission accomplished. Time to go to sleep.
