Hi, All,
Существует ли в американской природе такое явление как миниатюрная стиральная машина? Ну как "Малютка" (не помню точно, как называлась, но наверное многие поймут, о чем я), в общем, не требующая стационарного подключения и не занимающая много места при хранении. Потому что ожидаем ребенка (еще правда не скоро), и для детских вещей общая laundry не очень-то подходит (грязновато там), а апартменты с washer/dryer немногочисленны и дороговаты. Установить даже compact washer (22") вряд ли выйдет - как я понимаю, ему надо стационарное подключение, заземление, и прочее, чего landlord не позволит делать. Так что и не знаем, куда бежать - или в более дорогой апартмент со "своей" стиральной машиной - или все же существует искомое?

Слышал, что в NYC "Малютки"(типа) продают, но сам не видел. Про заземление для стационарного вошера я ничего не знаю [img:35756e22f2]images/smiles/icon_smile.gif[/img:35756e22f2], а так, если место в ванной есть, то поставить самому дополнительное т-образное звено обычно не проблема.

Во, теперь увидел. Это конечно не малютка: в неё воду сам не зальёш, а потому в ванной пользоваться вряд-ли удастся. Только на кухне.

Вообще-то если сделать поиск на Яху, найдется немало. Я как-то встречала на гаражке пластмассовый, более компактный, чем HAIER, предложенный Владимиром - назывался Avanti, возможно, и в ванную вошел бы - только не знаю, делают ли их еще. Но может и проблема возникнуть: загляните на http://www.thathomesite.com/forums/load/apt/msg0318291726240.html - там кто-то спрашивал, можно ли это устанавливать в апартменте, и вот один из ответов (автор - property manager). Не хочу каркать, просто имейте в виду, что может быть, все не так просто...

My landlord has sent me an email stating that I am in violation of my Rental Agreement by installing a washing machine. I have informed her that the washing machine is PORTABLE, hence, not an ISTALLATION. It attaches directly to my sink faucet and is on wheels. It does not require any special wiring, plumbing, etc. I don't feel as if I'm wrong, but if I am, I would truly like to know. Would someone PLEASE let me know where I can find "legal" documentation regarding this matter. Thank you!

As to the original question, yes, it would probably be considered an installation. While I don't know that any state defines installation to the extent you are looking for, it appears you are splitting hairs here. The reasons they are prohibited in many apartments are basically 1. if the landlord is paying for the water, it uses too much water, (also true if landlord is paying electric or gas) 2. it drains the hot water from the heater, a huge nuisance if the hot water heater is shared by multiple units, and last, but most important, 3. LIABILITY. If it breaks and leaks, you're ruining floors, which may be other people's ceilings, carpet, if it's there, subflooring, etc.
You may find yourself in court defending your portable washer/dryer. You will probably find yourself not being offered a renewal when your lease runs out.
