To Dizzy:
I don't have simply engineers reporting to me [img:6d9ecca1bc]http://www.privet.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img:6d9ecca1bc]
Once again, I believe my position is just result of resume, diploma evaluated etc. My H1B was processed twice due to
mistake of lawyer. DoL has rejected my papers requiring to rise salary [to such a skilled person as I am [img:6d9ecca1bc]http://www.privet.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img:6d9ecca1bc]]. I believe
only position (with proper salary) company has is my current one. In our company I report to my manager, he reports to it's own and so on. That's all about hierarchy.

All prog.languages you've suggested are fine except Delphi.
It's great but almost nobody uses it. It's easy to guess because Borland is dead. Or semi-dead.
Java is fine too but it's not a general-purpose language.
I develop in C++ under Win32 (also under Unix) and learn Powerbuilder because company uses it together with Sybase SQL servers.
My suggestions are MS VC++ and C++ itself. Visual Basic also fine but you must also know at least one thing : either ActiveX(OLE2/COM) or(and) ODBC. I strongly recommend to learn SQL for specific SQL server (Oracle or MSSQL/Sybase). Simple fact is what most corporate computers in this country process data stored in databases.
Our company uses Novell as file servers, NT and Unix (Solaris/SunOS) as application servers. NTWS and 95 as desktops. There are still few 3.1 computers but it's under process of upgrade(replacement really). Also we have at least one big (and pretty critical) accounting application running on VAX under VMS. Company (I think) has needs in Cobol ( [img:6d9ecca1bc]http://www.privet.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img:6d9ecca1bc]) and VMS programmers.
Our company (I'm pretty sure in it) doesn't use Linux and OS/2 for obvious reasons.

Good luck.
PS. Just in case, I'm not going to start or (and) participate any discussion like "Linux vs NT" here. OK ?

Thank you for your explanation.
About "OS discussions" - okay, actually, I didn't even have that in mind [img:3808b2bee0]http://www.privet.com/ubb/smile.gif[/img:3808b2bee0]

To Dizzy:
это не к Вам. Народ отчего-то любит даже в такой далекой от подобной суеты конференции подоказывать, что Винды дрянь, а альтернатива им была, есть и будет есть.
